Sex offender working at Southwestern Oregon Community College

The college board obviously does not want to discuss their decision to hire a sex offender who was fresh out of prison after being convicted of molesting two students while teaching at a high school in Eugene. And they are intent on silencing anyone who tries to bring it up.

I spoke at the Southwestern Oregon Community College board meeting again last night about their policy on hiring sex offenders. They handed out packets before the meeting explaining that they are not obligated to have public comment and that they can deem anything "out of order" if they want. So when I spoke they kept interrupting me and wouldn't let me talk about the sex offender they hired. I told them they need to create a policy against hiring people with past convictions for sex crimes. When I offered to help draft such a policy the board chair told me they do not need my assistance. Then an audience member told her she obviously needs assistance because she hired a pedophile so she said he was "out of order" and security came over and grabbed him by the shoulder and demanded that he leave. Things got heated and the security guard escorted the man out of the building.....

Reminder: 4 out of 7 of those board members are currently up for re-election and you can file to run until March 20th for the election in May. A vote for any of them is a vote to keep sex offenders around minors at a tax-payer funded college.
