I received about 18% of the vote, so unfortunately I will not be your next Coos County Commissioner, but I want you all to know how incredibly grateful I am to have received so much support! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
As a guy who had no political experience and just wanted to make a positive difference in his community, I am lucky to have had so many of you come out and vote for me and share my message.
The fight does not end here! I will be continuing my involvement with the Coos County Citizen Council so feel free to follow that page for updates and meeting times.
Looking ahead, our county will be facing some difficult budget decisions in the next few weeks and it will take all of us to stand up and make our voices heard – we need to make it clear that law enforcement should be funded first and any cuts needed should be done to departments other than the jail and district attorney's office. Just because the majority of voters rejected an increase to property taxes does not mean they feel law enforcement is not a priority, they just want the government to be more efficient in the use of existing funding. I've seen a lot of discussion about this online in the last 24 hours and if you feel passionately about this topic I urge you to come to the county budget meetings next month and share your concerns, but bickering about it on Facebook will do nothing positive for our community.
Let's all start getting involved and make our voices heard!
